CASE STUDY Menopause Relief

MS ROBIN BROWN, 57 YEARS OLD

Please meet one of our patients, Robin Brown, who at the age of 57 has been struggling with her menopause that started at the age of 50. As such Robin has faced quite extensive menopausal symptoms for over 7 years.

Although menopause period typically begins between the age 40 and 65, we see more and more in women at the age of 35 too. Your perimenopause and menopause “timing” can be affected by genetics, of course, however, the main change will always be coming from your epigenetic changes i.e. your lifestyle and, in turn, your general health with symptoms being:

  • scattered periods, hot flashes, night sweats, disturbed sleeping pattern, mood swings, weight gain, irritability, feeling of depression or being lost in life and many others

What is Menopause

As you get older, your ovaries produce less of the hormones Estrogen and Progesterone. Without these hormones, periods become erratic for a time, and then eventually stop.

Once you have been without a period for 12 months you are most likely officially in menopause. On average, most of us start our menopause between the age of 44 to 55.

Having said that some physical changes that usher in menopause can begin as early as age 40 or may not start until your late 50s.

The transition stage – perimenopause – can last about 7 years but for some, it can last as long as 14 years. During this phase, hormone levels begin to drop.
