Cosmetic Gynaecology: A Closer Look at Popular Procedures

Cosmetic gynaecology is increasingly becoming popular among women worldwide. These procedures are aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the vulva or vaginal region. Besides aesthetic enhancement, these procedures also help restore sexual function that may have been affected due to childbirth or ageing.

At Medi-Gyn, cosmetic gynaecology procedures are performed by expert gynaecologists who specialise in the field. Dr Valentina Ghorashi is one such experienced cosmetic gynaecologist who routinely performs procedures like hymenoplasty and vaginoplasty.

One of the most common cosmetic gynaecology procedures performed is labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction.

Besides these, another procedure that addresses a common concern with many women–

  • laxity of the vagina and difficulty in sexual function after childbirth, is pelvic floor lifting

Let’s understand these procedures and how they can enhance your quality of life and boost your confidence!

Pelvic Floor Lifting

Women often complain of vaginal laxity, increased mobility of the uterus or discomfort during sex after childbirth. While this has physical implications, it also impacts one’s self-esteem and confidence and negatively impacts sexual relationships.

In many cases, one or more pelvic organs slip out of their normal position and bulge into the vagina. This is called a pelvic prolapse. While this is not life-threatening, it needs to be corrected.

The solution to these concerns is a Pelvic Floor lift!

What is it?

A pelvic floor lift is a reconstructive vaginal surgery that helps restore the prolapsed organs to their original position. Our gynaecologists choose the surgery technique depending on the degree of prolapse.

Types of Pelvic Reconstruction Surgery

There are several types of surgical procedures:

  • Colporrhaphy (treats prolapse of the anterior vaginal wall)
  • Sacrocolpopexy (treats vaginal vault prolapse)
  • Sacrohysteropexy (used to treat uterine prolapse if a woman does not want a hysterectomy)
  • Surgery for the placement of a vaginal mesh

Women who require a pelvic lift surgery usually experience one of more of the following symptoms:

  • Prolapse of pelvic organs
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Loss of sexual function or sensation
  • Trauma or injury during childbirth

Labiaplasty with Clitoral Hood Reduction

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic gynaecology procedure that enhances or improves the appearance of the inner labia and reduces the size of the vaginal lip. Besides aesthetic enhancement, it relieves symptoms like twisting or tugging of the labia that some women experience.

Along with labiaplasty, many women also undergo clitoral hood reduction– a surgical procedure in which the surgeon removes excess tissue covering the clitoris (called the clitoral hood).

The main goal of a labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction is to reduce the size of the labia minora so that it does not hang below the labia majora. It may also be performed to reduce asymmetry in the labia on both sides.

You can consider a labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction if you want to:

  • Improve the appearance of the vagina
  • Enhance sexual pleasure by making the clitoris more accessible
  • Reduce irritation from clothes rubbing against a large clitoral hood or labia
  • Correct any abnormalities present in the labia since birth

Labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction is a successful treatment, and most women are satisfied with the results.

Neauvia Intimate Filler

Dermal fillers are used in the vaginal region to help restore the natural volume and shape of the labia majora, giving it a more toned and youthful appearance. Neauvia intimate filler is a type of dermal filler containing biodegradable cross-linked hyaluronic acid hydrogel that gets resorbed with time.

Neauvia Intimate Filler is injected into the labia majora and is an intradermal injection used for correcting vulvar atrophy and its associated symptoms.

Did you know that Neauvia is the first and only dermal organic filler offering a natural look? It is recommended for men and women of different ages. This filler stimulates collagen production in the target area, thereby adding volume and improving firmness. Known for their long-term effect, the Neauvia Intimate Filler effects last 12 to 24 months.
