The results include:
• Analysis of 35 different hormones: Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEA-S, and Cortisol along with their Metabolites, plus the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR)
• DUTCH OATs: Melatonin (6OHMS), 8-Hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), and six organic acid tests (OATs) including markers such as: vitamin B12 (methylmalonate), vitamin B6 (xanthurenate), kynurenate, glutathione (pyroglutamate), dopamine (homovanillate), norepinephrine/epinephrine (vanilmandelate).
Sample Collection Instruction
We do recommend dedicating one day to doing the test to ensure accurate results. Once the test is done the sample and the cool pack can be frozen and we will arrange for the sample to be collected [additional delivery charges apply].
Instructions for the Dutch Plus Test
The Dutch Plus test is a comprehensive hormone assessment that provides insights into hormone levels, metabolism, and adrenal function. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure accurate results.
Before You Begin
- Avoid Certain Foods & Supplements:
- Refrain from consuming caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine for at least 24 hoursbefore the test.
- Avoid high-sugar and processed foods that may affect cortisol and hormone levels.
- If you take hormonal medications or supplements, consult your healthcare provider regarding temporary discontinuation.
- Hydration: Stay hydrated but do not drink excessive amounts of water on the day of testing.
- Sleep & Stress: Ensure you get a normal night’s sleep and minimize stress the day before testing.
Sample Collection Schedule
The Dutch Plus test requires saliva and dried urine samples collected at specific times throughout the day. Please check the PDF for detailed instructions.
Timing Based on Menstrual Cycle
Premenopausal Women (Regular Menstrual Cycle)
- Collect your samples on Day 19-21of a 28-day cycle(or 5-7 days after ovulation).
- If your cycle is longer or shorter, adjust the collection date accordingly.
- Example: If your cycle is 35 days, collect on days 21-25.
- If your cycle is irregular, consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
Women with Irregular Cycles
- If your cycle is unpredictable, try to collect your samples during the mid-luteal phase(about 5-7 days after ovulation).
- If you cannot determine your ovulation date, test on a random daybut inform your provider about your cycle history.
Postmenopausal Women (No Menstrual Cycle)
- You can collect your samples on any day.
Women on Birth Control
- If you are on oral contraceptives, the test will not provide accurate readings for estrogen and progesterone levels but can still assess adrenal and androgen function.
- If testing hormones, discuss stopping the pill with your healthcare providerat least 6 weeks before
Women on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
- If taking topical, troche, or sublingual hormones, discuss with your provider, as they can affect results.
- If using oral progesterone, take it at bedtime before sample collection.
- If using hormone creams, gels, or patches, avoid applying them to your skin at least 24 hours beforesaliva collection.
- If using vaginal hormones, avoid use for 48 hours before testing
